According to a note published by the Ministry of Finance and Malagasy Budget, dated 18 January 2017, the transit visa under 24 hours is exempt from law. This provision is applied when the input of cruise passengers at the port of landing at each touch does not exceed 24 hours.

The same note states, however,, when the duration of a touch in a landing port is over 24 hours, Ar visa law 50 000 is due. But this duty is levied only once and allows cruise lines to make multiple touches as part of the same trip, and that within the period under 15 days. Joined in Law No. 2016-032 of 28 December 2016, with Finance Law 2017, this provision is already in force in Madagascar.

As a member of the Vanilla Islands, Madagascar also promises cruise tourism in the Indian Ocean. This good news can only have a positive impact on the sector. Moreover, the number of touches has been increasing since the beginning of the cruise season in October, with the passage of large ships as Amadea, Costa Cruises and Ocean Dream.

In order to optimize the passage of these cruise on our land, recall that Madagascar's National Tourism Office (ONTM) supported Nosy Be cities, Antsiranana and Toamasina, in the implementation of their Committees “Home Cruises”. This structure is designed to standardize and improve the reception of cruise ships and cruise ships in all ports of call in Madagascar.
